Frendly Invaders
Frendly Invaders was an NFT project from early 2022, at the peak of the boom. A collection of comic-style illustrated characters with a visual proposal that had nothing to do with what dominated the market at the time.
Context
In 2022, 90% of NFTs were pixel art or algorithmically generated 3D renders. Most aimed at the same thing: digital scarcity, wallet flexing, closed community. Frendly Invaders wanted something else: a collection with its own world, with characters that had personality beyond the token.
Identity
I developed the branding from MetaOne alongside an illustrator from the team, building the visual universe of the characters together. The Invaders are creatures with antennae, X-shaped eyes and smiles that don't exactly inspire trust — but the name promises they're friendly. That contradiction was the heart of the brand.
The name itself is part of the identity: "Frendly" without the i, an intentional misspelling that isn't a mistake but a decision. Like the character: apparently harmless, clearly mischievous.
The palette came from the illustrated world: earthy tones, ochres and beige as a base, navy and red as accents. A colorful universe that avoided the dark mode every crypto project used by default. The website had to feel like entering the Invaders' world, not like connecting a wallet.
We did everything: logo, typography, colors, brand guidelines and the website.
